Why Consider OEM Certified Auto Body Shops for your Collision Repair?

1. The OEM Certification Programs are thorough

The certification programs come in a range of complexity from a simple "Pay a fee and buy our parts, and you are certified" to more stringent programs such as BMW, Audi, and Tesla where equipment and on-site training are required. In some cases, the industry-standard certification and training body I-CAR Gold can qualify a shop that has completed coursework.

2. OEM training is expensive

The average cost of a four-day factory certification can cost a shop upwards of $10-20,000 and some training programs last two weeks, so those technicians aren't even in the building to work on customer cars. If a shop is dedicated enough to get their technician's factory-certified, you can bet that this is a shop that does not cut corners.

3. Specialized Tools

Specialized tools often are required to become a certified facility as well as being necessary to fix your car. Therefore, the shop, as well as the employees, must pass certain criteria. Some of this tooling can cost a shop over $250,000 or more. Different cars require special jigging in order to replace parts such as frame rails, where tolerances have to be exact. If your shop doesn't have these, they are likely going to rig something up to get the job done, but minus the precision from the specialized tooling.

4. OEM Training can require on-site visits from the Manufacturer.
5. OEM certification requires re-certification

Shops must stay up to date and must apply for re-certification. When you are searching a shop online, check with them to see if they are STILL certified for your manufacturer. Just because they were when they built the website, does not guarantee that they still are today. The same goes for the certifications hanging on the wall. Do your due diligence and double check.

First off, let me start by saying that I will never go to another auto body or auto mechanical repair shop ever. From the first moment I walked into North State, I was met with excellent customer service. They prepared a quote for me within minutes and worked along the way with my insurance company, ensuring it was a seamless customer experience. North State got me in for service within days, assisted with recommending a rental car location just around the corner and communicated updates regularly throughout the process. They finished the work ahead of schedule (!!!!!!) and went above and beyond, cleaning the vehicle to better than new car clean. Not only was the bodywork on my Porsche pure perfection, they made the experience amazingly pleasant! Who says taking their car in for work is amazingly pleasant?!? Right North State rocks and if you read all of this, go ahead and give them a call now or you will forever be sad you went somewhere else.

From the moment I walked in for an estimate, to the moment I picked up my car my experience was outstanding! Frank was warm and considerate, while providing entailed suggestions. Walker was outstanding at communication and handling my need. He was kind enough to put me in direct contact with the manager at a car rental location. The facility is clean, organized and runs like a well-oiled machine. Whether your need is small like mine was, or large, I wouldn't hesitate to visit them and draw your own opinion. I hope I don't need an auto body shop in the future, however if I do I wouldn't hesitate to use North State Custom again.

In a word...IMPECCABLE! Nel and the entire staff were professional and personable. They went above and beyond with EVERY detail... repairing & cleaning much more than just "body and trim" following our collision with a deer. Go nowhere else for your servicing needs if you want that "new car" feeling all over again!
